Installing or Upgrading NetworkSmart

NetworkSmart is a condensed application that requires less then 5 MB of disk space on your PC. It is designed to easily install on a client machine, test machine or an engineers PC. NetworkSmart does not need to be installed on a server.

However, in order to generate performance metrics, NetworkSmart will require access to your application's capture files. You will need to either have capture files readily availabe to analyze our you will have to capture your application traffic using one of the supported network sniffers.

Requirements

Prior to installing NetworkSmart, be sure that your environment meets the following requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Windows XP or Windows Vista
  • Microsoft 2.0 .NET Framework including latest Service Pack *
  • Processor 800 MHz Pentium III-class processor or higher
  • Minimum 500 megabytes (MB) of RAM
  • Network Sniffer such as Microsoft Network Monitor or Wireshark or access to capture files

Note: * You must first ensure that the PC running NetworkSmart has the Microsoft 2.0 .NET Framework installed. When installing NetworkSmart, the setup will detect this automatically and notify you of any discrepancies.

First Time Installation

You may download our free Express version of NetworkSmart at: http://www.leadbyte.com/download/nsinstall.exe. NetworkSmart Enterprise uses the same product install; however, product keys are required in order to unlock additional features and functionality.

Once you are ready to begin installation, run the file nsinstall.exe. The NetworkSmart installation program is a simple, wizard-driven installation; which requires only a single parameter: a destination folder. After the installation is complete, all files necessary for running NetworkSmart will be installed on your hard drive.

To uninstall NetworkSmart, follow these instructions:

• From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
• When the Control Panel appears, double click Add/Remove Programs.
• Find "LeadByte NetworkSmart" in the list and click to uninstall.

Upgrading NetworkSmart

You may update NetworkSmart directly from within the product. From the main menu select "Help -> Check for Update" to see if a new product update is available. If it is, simply follow the instructions on the screen in order to download and install the latest NetworkSmart update.
